Counting to Ten

For several months I've been counting to three before blasting Sam off into the bathtub. He loves this ritual so much that he's recently taken to counting to three to do everything. Time to get out of the highchair after breakfast?

one...to...TREE!

Time to drive off to school?

one...to...TREE!

Time to count the animal magnets on the refrigerator?

one...to...TREE!

That was when Joy and I knew we needed to teach him a few more numbers. So this past week, we've been working on getting all the way up to ten. Yesterday after lunch, Joy and I were still sitting at the table while Sam was playing with his animal magnets, telling the monkey that he needed to be high and the elephant he needed to be low. (it's best not to ask...trust me). Then he started counting while playing with the magnets. "Great," we thought, "we can see if he's got it down."

one...to...tree...fo......seben...nin...TEN!

We still have a little ways to go.
