I must confess that with
this review and the
last one, I've reviewed back to back two of my favorite film scorers working today. And, unfortunately, in both cases they did not live up to expectations. Danny Elfman's new score for
The Kingdom is perhaps the deepest cut of all because I was looking forward to his return to adult action-adventure movies after a few years of scoring children's films. But alas, he has descended into noodling. Interesting noodling, but noodling nonetheless. You can read all about it
