Actually, lamb testicles are quite popular in Kentucky, where they're known as "lamb fries." Randy Smith has a wonderfully funny story about going for an interview right out of grad school, looking at a menu, and finding out from the waiter while dining with the search committee, the chair of which was female. Needless to say, he quickly ordered something else. So you might be in KY rather than in NY.
